Scholarship Opportunity
Students may receive up to $ 20,000 for college with the Horatio Alger Scholarship. The application is available at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships, the application deadline is October 30. The eligibility criteria are:
• Enrolled full time in high school and progressing toward graduation by June 2012
• A strong commitment to pursuing and completing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited public or private institution in the United States.
• Critical financial need ( $50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred
• Involved in co-curricular and community activities
• A minimum GPA of 2.0
• Be a United States Citizen
Another Scholarship Opportunity
Saint Michael’s College in Vermont is offering the Edmundite Scholarship, which is worth $20,000 over 4 years, to a student who graduates from a Catholic high school and is admitted to Saint Michael’s College. The admission application and nomination from must be received by February 1, 2012. Admission to Saint Michael’s is competitive; approximately 90 percent of admitted students finished in the top half of their high school class. Saint Michael’s does not require the SAT or ACT.
Other Opportunities
AXA Achievement Scholarship offers two scholarships. One scholarship worth $10,000 and $25,000 has a winner in every State, the other has 375 winners nationwide and is worth $2000. Learn more and apply online at www.axa-achievement.com
