Timeline and Important Dates
SEPTEMBER
- Register for the October SAT I, ACT plus Writing or SAT II as needed. The last day to register for the October SAT exams is September 9. ACT deadline is September 19.
- College visits to CSHM begin. It's a great chance to meet admission officers in a small setting. Check w/ Ms. Chan and listen to bulletins for dates.
- Find out if the private college you are applying to requires the Profile
OCTOBER
- College visits continue
- Take SAT & ACT exams
- Submit CSU applications
- Bring in secondary School Report Forms to college counseling office as soon as they are received
- All application essays should be completed by October 31
- CSU Application Workshop
- Thursday, October 2 at 6:30 PM
- Saturday, October 4 at 2:00PM
- Senior College Visits Wednesday October 15
- UC Application Workshop
NOVEMBER
- File your U.C. and Cal State applications
- Take SAT & ACT exams as needed
- Confirm final list of colleges with Ms. Chan
- Request letters of recommendation from teachers by November 15.
DECEMBER
- Absolutely the last chance to take SAT I, SAT II & ACT exams. It is not recommended to wait this long. This test date should be used only in the case of emergencies.
JANUARY 2008
- Attend financial aid workshop with your parents
- Thursday, January 8 at 6:30PM
- Make sure parents fill out the FAFSA and Profile if you are applying for financial aid
- Finish submitting all applications. Everything, regardless of the deadline, should be filed by February 1st.
FEBRUARY
- Be aware of any correspondence from schools you have applied to.
- Watch your mail and email.
- FAFSA form should be mailed this month
MARCH
- Watch the mail and email
- Wait
- Admission decisions begin to arrive
- Mail FAFSA no later than March 2.
APRIL
- Students applying to two year colleges should submit applications
- Make your matriculation decision by late April
- Notify all colleges to which you are admitted where you have decided to matriculate. May 1st is the deadline for this.
MAY
- Request a final transcript to be sent to the college you have chosen.
