Last night our football team defeated St. Bernard High 49-28. It was the first league game of the year after a season that is undefeated at 4 wins and 0 losses. All of our players deserved credit for the hard work that they have done through out all of the months of preparation for this season. Coach Taylor and his coaching staff are always professional during games and practices and have done a tremendous job. Our football players are confident, steady and patient. Great job!

We celebrated a full school Mass today. Father Verilla spoke from the heart during the homily and gave our school much to reflect upon. Megan Sgroi spoke to the entire student body about her trip to Jamaica serving the poor of the island.

New basketball courts were installed this week for our students and basketball players. Some years we have as many as 6 competitive basketball teams all needing to practice at the same time. The basketball courts in the gym parking lot were isolated and very old. This should help to relieve some of the crunch for practice time and give the opportunity to supervise more effectively.

Today I was walking through the halls and stopped talk to some football players and other students about our victory over Schurr High School. One young man was putting away his books and I was very impressed by the organization he showed in his locker. I asked him if I could take a picture of it so I show my son what an organized locker should look like, but I thought I would share it with you as well. Organized lockers, assignment books, and homework really cut down on the work and make for better grades.

Each month our faculty meets for one morning to pray and enjoy one another's fellowship. We get so used to going to our classes and offices, meeting with students and parents, and walking through our days, that we don't get the chance to eat and pray together as a faculty without discussing the business of teaching and administering CSHM High School. The prayer breakfast gives us the chance to do this. I'd like to give a big "thank-you" to our parent volunteers who watch the campus while we're in the cafeteria.

Today the faculty met for our first full meeting in preparation for the new school year. We began our day today in the Chapel for Mass followed by meetings in the library. After our loss of Mr. Dominguez during the summer, faculty members began our meetings with a tremendous sense of loss. Although we will miss him and mourn him throughout our time here, we begin our school year with a sense of expectation and new beginning. Ron dedicated his life to education and we will continue the dedication he showed to education and CSHM High School.

Welcome to my journal. I wanted to have the opportunity to share with you on a more personal level little items and tidbits about the school that I become aware of from time to time. Usually these things that brighten or inform my day are absorbed by the normal hustle and bustle of the days' events. I hope to share them with you informally so you can enjoy and be informed about some of the happenings that I come across in the course of my experience with your daughters and sons. I'll sprinkle in some news and upcoming events that come across my desk as well.
I hope you drop by here often to share some of my experiences at CSHM High School.
